Sâen suit une procĂšdure de rĂ©vision du contour des Appellations dâOrigine ControlĂ©es Saint-Ămilon, Saint-Ămilion Grand Cru et des conditions pour bĂ©nĂ©ficier des mentions Grand Cru ClassĂ© et Premier Grand Cru ClassĂ©. En 2006, le classement est contestĂ©. La procĂ©dure, vĂ©ritable Ă©lectrochoc, va conduire Ă la mise en oeuvre dâune sĂ©rie de mesure pour encadrer davantage tout le processus. Plus de transparence, respect du contradictoire, procĂ©dure externalisĂ©e, tout a Ă©tĂ© fait pour offrir toujours plus de garanties. Gigondas was once known as 'Jucunditas' meaning 'joy and jubilation' in Latin. It's is a French wine Appellation AOC in the southern RhĂŽne wine region, in the south of France. Primarily red wines are produced in the region, with a small amount of rosĂ© wine also produced, though no white wines are labelled with the Gigondas appellation AOC The Gigondas AOC wines are produced exclusively in the commune of Gigondas in Vaucluse and are generally made from Grenache maximum of 80% and a minimum of 15% each of Syrah and Mourvedre GSM. Small amounts up to 10% of other sanctioned varieties are permitted, but Carignan is not allowed. The region's terroir comprises a hot and dry Mediterranean climate not unlike that of McLaren vale - a new world region well known for premium Grenache and a mix of limestone soils on the Montmirail hills to the east and sandy, rocky free-draining soils to the north and west. Due to the region's warmth significantly warmer than ChĂąteauneuf-du-Pape the wines produced can carry rather high alcohol volumes and be full-bodied. When handled well, and by great producers, some exceptional wines can be borne of the is home to the biggest names in Central Otago Pinot Noir and is warmer than the cooler Gibbston within the North East Victoria zone in Victoria, Rutherglen is a wine region situated to the north of Beechworth and to the east of Glenrowan. This wine region is considered the most important fortified wine production area in Australia, producing Muscats and Tokays which are internationally renowned for their exceptional quality and style. Most of the vineyards are located within the northern half of the area, where it is separated by the Murray River from New South Wales. The first vines in Rutherglen were planted during the gold rush era in 1851 and boasts of some of the oldest wineries in the country. Combining old traditions and new technology, Rutherglen has come a long way from its beginnings. The area received official recognition in 1997 when it was accorded GI Geographical Indication status. Today, the wine region uses a variety of grapes for their wines including their famous Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains and Tokay which is used to make the famous fortified wines that Rutherglen is known for. The wines made from Muscat Blanc a Petits Grains are incomparable in depth and complexity. The wine is made by a particular winemaking process which involves a slow and oxidate barrel-ageing procedure that gives out a wide range of flavours including butterscotch, toffee, caramel, sweet spices and tea Grampians wine region is situated near the Grampians National Park and the Pyrenees hills in Victoria. Only a two hourâs drive west from Melbourne, this area is known primarily for their luscious, full-bodied red wine such as Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, but it is also known to produce crisp, citrus-driven Rieslings. Home to over 15 wineries, Grampians enjoys a Mediterranean climate because of its closeness to the Southern Ocean which brings a wave of cool winds to the vineyards during the summer. During the daytime, the temperatures tend to range from warm to hot and it cools down to cold temperatures during the night. Autumns in Grampians are blissfully mild which allowing for ideal conditions for ripening grapes. The soil of this region is divided into two main types soil which is acidic grey brown loamy sands and clay loam soils, and hard yellow soil with structured clay sub soils. Because of the acidity of the soils, the pH levels have to be increased with the addition of lime to make them favorable for grape growth. This may explain the hints of acidity and citruses in the wines of this region. Although winemaking started 160 years ago in Canberra District, the viticulture of this region was revived in the 1970s. Situated in the wider area of southern New South Wales, surrounding Australian Capital Territory, the region is famous for their Shiraz and Rieslings due to their cool climate. Canberra District wine region was granted GI Geographical Indication in 1998 although the district was home to very few vineyards at that time. Today, wineries such as Clonakilla and Ravensworth have paved the way for putting Canberra District on the map as an up- and-coming wine region to watch in Australia. Located about 150 kilometers inland from the Pacific Ocean, the vineyards are on lands of varying altitudes ranging from 300-800 meters which causes variation in temperature and soil types. The climate of Canberra District can be described as having a continental climate, which is characterized by big differences in temperature during the day and night. The region is capable of producing some of the nations finest Shiraz and is on the inland side of the Great Dividing Range about 250km West of Sydney. Its location is just across the Divide from the Hunter Valley, but the climate in Mudgee is much more continental. The altitude of the region, about 450m means that it escapes the severe heat that might otherwise be experienced in such a northerly location. Although this is by no means a cool climate region, its vintage is a full month behind that in the Hunter Valley. Mudgeeâs altitude of around 450 metres shelters it from the heat that would normally be associated with a latitude of 32 degrees south Bordeauxâs is 45 degrees north and Champagne is 50 degrees north. There are about forty wineries in operation here, some have affiliations in the Hunter Valley but many are quite small. Inky, dark, brooding shirazes are famous in Mudgee, colloquially known as Mudgee Mud. However, top producers such as Tim Stevens of Huntington are producing some delightful, medium-bodied, age-worthy European styled reds, venturing away from the thick muddy Shirazes. Brilliant Chardonnays are also being produced. The Mudgee region has pioneered many alternative Italian and Spanish varieties including Tempranillo and Graciano. It would seem that the Mudgee region is too warm to get full varietal expression from most traditional white AOC of Beaune was created in 1936. It covers the wine produced in the commune of Beaune in the CĂŽte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy. The Appellation d'origine contrĂŽlĂ©e AOC Beaune is used for red and white wine with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay the two main varietals. Red wine makes up about 85 per cent of the total production, and white less than 15%. here are several well-known and highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards, but there are no Grand Cru vineyards within Beaune. The Beaune appellation has a high proportion of Premier Cru-classified vineyards, more than 40 climats in fact from north to south. Wines from these Premier Cru sites are allowed to be named Beaune Premier is where history and world-class wines collide. Medieval architecture surrounds exceptional vineyards in the heart of Bordeaux, where conditions are ideal for varietals including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The soils are diverse, with a combination of gravel, sand, clay and limestone while slopes and plateaus provide excellent drainage.
